Paediatric First Aid
2 Day Ofqual Level 3 Paediatric First Aid Course
This is compliant with Ofsted and Early Years first aid training requirements.
The course is recommended for people working with and caring for children and babies.
This is a 2 day (12 hour) Ofqual Regulated Paediatric First Aid Course.
On completion of training successful candidates will be able to:
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to:
- The necessity to gain consent
- The importance of preventing cross infection
- The need for recording incidents and actions
- Use of available equipment
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly, and effectively in an emergency
- The special needs of infants and children
- The ability and knowledge to carry out an illness assessment
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unresponive (including seizure)
- Administer CPR including using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
- Recognise and respond appropriately to anaphylactic shock
- Recognise and respond appropriately to electric shock
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns (inc. electrical) and scalds, splinters
- Recognise and respond appropriately to cases of poisoning
- Respond appropriately to burns and scalds
- Respond appropriately to fractures
- Respond appropriately to head, neck and back injuries
- Respond appropriately to foreign objects in eyes, ears and nose and eye injuries
- Respond appropriately to bites and stings
- Respond appropriately to effects of extremes of body temperature
- Respond appropriately to febrile convulsions
- Recognise and respond appropriately to the emergency needs of chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
- Recognise and respond appropriately to meningitis and other serious sudden childhood illness

First Aid For All Ltd. Manchester head office and training facility.
Parking: lots of free on road parking in front of venue.
No onsite parking.
Driving: M60 J23 Ashton-under-Lyne (Snipe Retail Park). We are 1 min from northbound exit. 3 min from southbound exit.
Bus: 219, stop is 10 meters from venue
Train: Guide Bridge station is 5-8 minutes walk
Access to building: press buzzer for First Aid For All. Any issues, call 0161 250 16 16.
Free tea and coffee.
General store 50m away for snacks and sandwiches.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the course start time.
